WICKED MAINE LOBSTER OPENS FIRST HAWAI‘I LOCATION AT ROYAL HAWAIIAN CENTER

East Coast-style seafood shack serves up premium Maine lobster rolls and more

Waikīkī (November 18, 2021) – Wicked Maine Lobster has brought its East Coast style seafood shack to the South shore of O‘ahu with its first Hawai‘i location at Royal Hawaiian Center’s Pāʻina Lanai Food Court offering guests authentic Maine lobster rolls, New England-style clam chowder, fried seafood baskets, and more.

“Wicked Maine Lobster is an exciting addition to the Pāʻina Lanai Food Court roster with classic Maine lobster shack staples,” said Marleen Akau, Vice President and General Manager of Royal Hawaiian Center. “The restaurant’s menu perfectly complements our diverse collection of dining options.”

Brothers Alex and Eric Howard established Wicked Maine Lobster to bring the best Maine seafood dishes they grew up with to Southern California. Arriving in San Diego after backpacking the California coast, Alex realized there wasn’t a huge selection of east coast seafood in the area and came up with the idea to offer Maine lobster rolls and New England clam chowder at farmers markets. Eric Howard joined his younger brother to launch the new business venture in 2014. Wicked Maine Lobster operates three brick-and mortar locations in San Diego and Carlsbad, California. The Royal Hawaiian Center location is its first outside of the Continental U.S.

“Expanding to Hawai‘i was a natural next step for Wicked Maine since, like Maine and Southern California, Hawai‘i has an incredible connection with the ocean and a lifestyle and culture that surrounds it,” said Alex Howard. “We’re thrilled to open our first location at Royal Hawaiian Center to bring our authentic premium Maine lobster rolls to guests from around the world.”

Wicked Maine’s menu centers around premium Maine lobster from the East Coast. Signature dishes include their Maine Lobster Roll, California Lobster Taco, and New England-style clam chowder. Other popular menu items include Lobster Queso Fries, a unique take on poutine with crispy cut fries smothered in melted queso cheese and topped Maine lobster, and Fish n’ Chips, featuring wild-caught haddock. Keeping it in the family, the brothers sought advice from their mother and other close relatives to source the highest quality Maine lobster, split-top New England-style rolls, and other ingredients so Royal Hawaiian Center guests can enjoy an authentic and classic Maine lobster experience.

Signature items on the Wicked Maine menu range in price from $9 for the New England Clam Chowder to $30 for the Maine Lobster Roll, while other dishes run between $15 - $18 and sides are under $9.

Wicked Maine Lobster is located in the Royal Hawaiian Center Pāʻina Lanai Food Court in Building B, Level 2. Phone: (808) 921-2703.
