Waikīkī – Lunar New Year arrives early at Royal Hawaiian Center with an exclusive lunar eclipse viewing! On Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., the Center invites shoppers to visit with Barry Peckham of LITEBOX Telescopes to glimpse the rare, total lunar eclipse.

“Lunar New Year is a very special tradition in Hawaiʻi and throughout Asia, and we’re pleased to provide shoppers with this unique opportunity to kick off this year’s cultural festivities with a celestial event,” said Royal Hawaiian Center Vice President, General Manager Marleen Akau.

Visible throughout North and South America, this total lunar eclipse is a fitting way to usher in the Lunar New Year celebration. Learn from expert Barry Peckham of the Hawaiian Astronomical Society as he shares his knowledge, answers questions, and invites attendees to glimpse the eclipse through his LITEBOX telescope, widely regarded as a “telescope for contemporary times.” Peckham and his telescope will be located in Building B, Level 4.
