Waikīkī – On Sunday, March 3, 2019, Royal Hawaiian Center will celebrate Hinamatsuri, a special Japanese tradition dedicated to the health and wellness of young girls, with a full day of cultural and keiki friendly activities.
“Hinamatsuri, or Girls’ Day, is a cherished tradition celebrating girls and their families in Hawaiʻi, and we’re thrilled to provide the local community with an opportunity to gather together for fun and cultural festivities in the heart of Waikīkī,” said Nani Hanus, marketing manager for Royal Hawaiian Center.
The Hinamatsuri celebration begins with a special Keiki Cookie Decorating with Kulu Kulu class from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Join Kulu Kulu’s acclaimed pastry chef Chihiro to design a special Girls’ Day cookie and sample their special Hinamatsuri cake.
Girls’ Day festivities continue with a Flowers with Paiko Hawaii class from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. Create a bud vase arrangement using a variety of colorful flowers with which to adorn your home.
The celebration concludes with a Hina Doll Origami Lesson from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. Learn more about the Girls’ Day tradition by making origami hina dolls during this one-day lesson.
All three classes take place at Helumoa Hale (Building B, Level 1) and are limited to the first 25 guests who RSVP to aloha@festivalcos.com or at www.RoyalHawaiianCenter.com/events. Participating keiki must be accompanied by an adult.
