DORAKU UNVEILS RENOVATED RESTAURANT AND EXCLUSIVE DISHES AT ROYAL HAWAIIAN CENTER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 22, 2019

Waikīkī – Doraku, the innovative Japanese gastropub created by restaurateur Kevin Aoki, has re-opened its Waikīkī location at Royal Hawaiian Center with a fresh look, exclusive dishes, and an expanded drink list. The 150-seat restaurant is located on Level 3 of the B Building.

“We are always wanting to elevate the dining experience for our guests and this was a natural evolution for Doraku,” said Aoki. “The restaurant is a casual place where connoisseurs can enjoy a variety of authentic Japanese flavors alongside innovative creations. Our drink menu also features craft cocktails, top-shelf spirits, fine wine and, of course, our extensive sake collection.”

The renovated space is reminiscent of the traditional izakaya restaurants in Japan with its rich wood features, paper lantern décor, and casual atmosphere. The updated menu and drink list also reflect the changing tastes of diners.

“Visitors and kamaʻāina have flocked to Doraku for the unique sushi presentations and fun atmosphere since it first opened at Royal Hawaiian Center in 2008,” said Royal Hawaiian Center Vice President, General Manager Marlene ‘Ākau. “The renovated space is very warm and welcoming, and we’re excited about the menu items that will be found exclusively at this location.”

In addition to Doraku’s signature maki rolls like the God of Fire “Kagu-Tschi Roll,” Deluxe Rainbow Roll, and Double Happiness, discerning diners will discover new menu items found at no other location, including:

  • Kobe Style Sliders served with Okinawan sweet potato fries and a honey wasabi dipping sauce

  • Rack of Lamb marinated in garlic, rosemary, thyme, and lighted encrusted with panko and served over wasabi smashed potatoes

  • Steak Fried Rice with a sunny-side up egg, vegetables, garlic butter, and chef special sauce on a hot skillet

  • Grilled Jumbo Calamari, whole calamari served with grated ginger and a spicy ponzu sauce

  • Variety of lobster preparations

    • Sashimi – live Maine lobster tail served with wasabi and shoyu

    • Lobster Miso Soup

    • Lobster Tempura – lobster and basil tempura served with Firecracker
